Control of Ambrosia
- Check your garden regularly for ragweed from June to August, especially where bird seeds have been used.
- Pull out any ragweed together with its roots (use gloves), wear a protective mask (fine particle mask) during the flowering period.
- Place pulled out ragweed into household waste at once – never into garden waste, compost or dung.
- Cut plants will quickly form new floriferous twigs at the base of the stem.

Spraying equipment against bird flu
The bird flu (avian influenza) caused by influenza viruses are current topics. The dangerous H5N1 virus, discovered in China in 1997, is spreading from Asia to Africa and Europe. Affected are mainly wild birds and domestic fowl. The outbreaks in neighbouring countries indicate that the virus is also spreading to central Europe.
In the event of local outbreaks of bird flu, risk of the virus spreading is reduced by applying disinfectants. In this way the spread of the virus by land can be prevented, or at least reduced. In many cases the disinfectants are applied via spraying equipment.
